Take it all with you.

Picture a smartphone that is as versatile as the imagination you bring it into. The heart of this cellular device is a circular receptacle on its back, an elegant, modular hub that lets you swap out components like an interchangeable lens, a high‑quality microphone, or even a series of stands. I began by thinking of photographers, podcasters, and makers who crave the freedom to reconfigure their tools without buying new devices. From those conversations I distilled a form: a slim chassis with a seamless, self‑aligning bay that accepts any attachment in seconds, powered by an internal sensor that guarantees optimal exposure when a lens is inserted. The camera module’s sensor sits inside the lens itself, ensuring image fidelity while keeping the phone lightweight. I engineered a touch‑less plug‑in system and a quick‑release button for accessibility, so users with limited dexterity can switch modules without strain. With adaptive power modes, the phone supports high‑gain microphones for studio recordings or quiet hands‑free listening for those with hearing impairment. The modular design not only keeps the device compact but also invites endless creative possibilities, making every use a new story told through the lens of your own smartphone.

I have always loved the form factor of Cell-Phones, while the form factor of this one seems simple the modular element of the attachment system is what brings forth the exploration of the question of what we can do with Cellular Phones. With current mobile processing power I thought it would be a fun case study to see a phone that could attach a powerful camera lens, liken to a modern mirrorless camera, or maybe another form of professional equipment. My observation is that the form factor has reached a sort of peak in it’s iteration, however I do not believe that the form factor has been explored to it’s fullest extent. In my ideation I imagined a locking pin system that transferred high bitrate data to whichever attachment you selected to bring with you, and then the ability to detach that object, taking you back to the full portability of your smartphone.
