Imagine the simplest act of styling your hair, hold it in your palm, let heat glide over strands, and finish effortlessly. This hand‑strap dryer is conceived as an extension of the body, not a tool you must hold. In the design process I began by looking at everyday users: how they reach for a wand, how they juggle multitasks, and where friction emerges. From that insight came a slender, lightweight chassis that conforms to the natural curve of the hand, with a cradle that releases effortlessly when you lift your fingers. We chose a heat‑sensitive silicone sleeve to keep skin cool, integrated a low‑profile power module that adapts automatically to hair thickness, and added an intuitive touch‑switch that eliminates the need for a separate control panel. Accessibility is at the core: the device can be used with one hand or with adaptive grips, its quiet operation respects hearing‑impaired users, and adjustable power settings cater to all hair types, from fine curls to thick coils. Making every style session feel personal, effortless, and inclusive.

In this project I wanted to bring one of the simple pleasures that can often be taken away from people who aren’t able to grip items due to conditions related to grip strength of possible shakiness. This resulted in ideating a hair dryer that operated by being fixed to the hand, making it an extension of the hand itself. Doing this while keeping the internals designed thoughtfully enough to ensure that a user would have a product that is comfortable to hold and safe to hold. Motors light and quiet enough to have in a handheld and temperature regulation that would protect the users hand and hair alike.
